German backpacker Carolina Wilga has published a tell-all book about her 12-day survival ordeal in Western Australia's outback in June 2025, with the German-language memoir releasing Friday. Wilga, 26, disappeared in the Wheatbelt region after mechanical problems stranded her, sparking a major search involving over 100 police officers. She survived barefoot in shorts and a T-shirt, battling mosquitoes and harsh terrain before being found by farmer Tania Henley. The book, titled "Escape from the Outback," details her fight for survival, including losing 12kg and requiring six days of hospital treatment. No English translation is currently planned, though Wilga says she hopes one will come soon.
