EU sends Ukraine €2.9 billion to support state budget
Ukraine has received 2.9 billion euros ($3.3 billion) from the European Union to support its state budget, aiming to sustain public administration operations amid the ongoing war against Russia. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced the disbursement on Friday, stating that while Ukraine defends itself against Russian aggression, it continues implementing comprehensive reforms. She said the payment helps maintain Ukraine's financial stability and supports investments for future recovery. EU leaders agreed last year to provide 90 billion euros in financial and defense support for Ukraine during 2026-2027. However, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky recently indicated a new $27 billion funding gap this year despite international aid, sparking debate in Brussels.
