Escura Lab's InstantSnap Novo: A Toy Camera With a See-Through Viewfinder

Hong Kong-based Escura Lab has released the InstantSnap novo, a second-generation toy digital camera featuring a transparent viewfinder that lets users see through to frame shots directly. It weighs just 38 grams despite including a 1.3-inch display. The camera offers interchangeable viewfinder plates, including a DSLR-style guide, a nine-grid composition scale, a Fibonacci spiral for golden ratio framing, and a selfie mirror. It also includes five color filters inspired by decades from the 1960s to Y2K, plus film-style frames, and records JPG stills and AVI video onto microSD cards up to 64GB. The novo succeeds the original vertical InstantSnap, which lacked a display, and now adopts a horizontal layout with a more typical shutter position. Its 5-megapixel sensor produces 2560x1920 images, and the camera is available in clear, white, and mint colors for 8,894 yen.
