Egypt heatwave to ease early next week, weather authority says

Egypt's Meteorological Authority attributed the current heatwave to the seasonal Indian monsoon depression and moisture-laden air from the Mediterranean, causing high temperatures and humidity. Humidity exceeds 95% on Mediterranean coasts and 85% in Greater Cairo, with temperatures over 5 degrees above normal. Tuesday marked the peak, with Cairo reaching 39°C (41°C felt in shade) and Luxor and Aswan hitting 45°C. The authority noted such summer heatwaves are normal, but humidity intensifies the perceived heat. Temperatures will drop by 1-2 degrees on Wednesday, though weather remains very hot and humid. A more significant improvement is expected early next week.
