Caruthers District Fair wraps up as heat drives demand for water and shade

The Caruthers District Fair concluded Saturday amid above-average temperatures, with attendees prioritizing water and shade to cope with the heat on its final day. Fairgoers used handheld fans and sought frequent water refills, while some adjusted schedules to avoid peak heat. Others embraced the warmth for shorter ride lines, and the Caruthers High School booth reported record bottled water sales. Vendors and 4-H exhibitors endured challenging conditions, with some noting the difficulty of working outdoors in high temperatures. The Big Fresno Fair, opening Wednesday, advised visitors to stay hydrated and use shaded areas.
