Brazilian court allows Grassi to resume digital campaign and debates

Brazilian Supreme Court Justice Dias Toffoli reversed his own decision and allowed presidential candidate Wilson Grassi to resume digital campaigning, participate in debates, and access electoral fund resources. Grassi runs for the Democrata party. Toffoli had suspended the campaign on August 31 over suspected fraud, citing that Grassi declared eight social media profiles to the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) on August 28, after the legal deadline. One undeclared profile had 156,000 followers and was used for electoral propaganda, potentially benefiting from algorithm recommendations. The case mirrors that of candidate Renan Santos, who received similar restrictions before Toffoli also relented, conditioning campaigns to use profiles registered on the TSE's Divulgacand system. The justice stated the initial prohibition was not a sanction but part of his instructional authority.
