Australia launches free solar program for millions of households

Australia will offer at least three hours of free solar power daily to millions of households, including those without solar panels, starting in 2026. The Solar Sharer program aims to utilize peak solar generation times, benefiting users by shifting electricity consumption to periods of zero cost, regardless of homeownership or solar panel installation. This initiative, initially launching in New South Wales, South Australia, and southeast Queensland, seeks to lower overall electricity costs by managing grid strain and high renewable energy output.
