Attackers target Kenyan rights group before protests

Armed men attacked the Kenyan Human Rights Commission (KHRC) headquarters during a press conference, escalating tensions before nationwide anti-government protests. The KHRC was holding a press conference to condemn arbitrary arrests and extrajudicial killings when approximately 20 men, some with weapons, attacked. The attack occurred on the eve of planned protests on July 7th, a significant date for civil rights in Kenya. The government is deploying the military in Nairobi, anticipating large protests.
