Art Street exhibition opens in Coimbatore showcasing diverse artworks and environmental themes

A two-day art exhibition called Art Street, or “Oviya Sandhai,” started in Coimbatore on Saturday, featuring over 100 artists from across India. The event, part of Coimbatore Vizha, was opened by District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati. This year's theme, ‘Sustain to Retain – SuRe,’ highlights the environmental impact of plastic. The exhibit includes sculptures made from plastic bottles, showcasing the effects of plastic pollution. Workshops for children in pottery and painting are also new this year. Nearly 300 artworks by children with autism are on display, emphasizing their creativity. The event has expanded to include sand art, clay sculptures, and mixed-media installations, increasing the variety of artworks presented.
