Amazon Fresh closes four Southern California stores

Amazon is closing four Amazon Fresh grocery stores in Southern California by mid-November. This move comes as the company reevaluates store performance and adjusts its retail strategy. The affected stores are located in La Habra, La Verne, Mission Viejo, and Whittier. Following these closures, Amazon will operate 19 Amazon Fresh stores in the region, which represents a significant portion of its total Fresh store footprint. This decision follows similar retrenchments in the UK and Amazon's ongoing strategy of potentially converting some Fresh locations to its Whole Foods Market brand. The company is working to reassign affected employees.
