Abia North senator Orji Kalu says he'll quit APC if Tinubu disrespects Catholic Church

Nigerian Senator Orji Kalu says he will resign from the ruling APC if President Bola Tinubu ever disrespects the Catholic Church, defending Tinubu amid a controversy over a recent bishops’ meeting. Speaking Wednesday on Channels TV, Kalu called Catholic bishops the nation’s conscience and said presidential aides’ comments should not be mistaken for Tinubu’s position. He rejected apology calls and defended economic reforms while admitting ordinary Nigerians still suffer. Kalu added that Tinubu remains the candidate to beat in 2027 due to opposition disunity, and argued improved security would ease food inflation by letting farmers return to their land.
